Memorial Biography

James Gerald Roberts, 69, of Hillsboro, Oregon, died January 21st, 2017 at Tuality Community Hospital. He was born July 19th, 1947 in Glendale, California, the son of the late Jewel Cooper and Gerald Roberts. He was the youngest of three siblings.

After high school, Jim enlisted in the army and served in Vietnam. After the war, he had stints in Durango, Colorado and San Francisco, California, eventually finding his way to Oregon, where he spent the last 36 years of his life.

A jack of all trades, he had many careers, where he was remembered for his big smile and upbeat attitude. He was a lifelong baseball fan, making yearly trips to Arizona to watch his favorite teams compete in spring training. He also enjoyed fishing at Trillium Lake and playing with his loyal dog, Buddy.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law James, Jr. and Amy Roberts of Frost, Texas; daughter Michelle Roberts-Zoll of Beaverton, Oregon; daughter and son-in-law Shandora and Tommy Scanlon of Sherwood, Oregon; son and daughter-in-law Joshua and LizAnne Roberts of San Francisco, California; son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Lauren Roberts of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and son Matthew Roberts of Tigard, Oregon. He is also survived by his two older sisters Beverly Powers and Linda Snyder; sixteen beautiful grandchildren, Andrea, Julianna, Jocelyn, Andrew, Lynnette, Justin, Thomas, Ayla, Kylie, Elias, Gannon, Mya, Madelynn, Gemma, Finn, and Rosalie; and two great-grandchildren Connor and Brooks.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00, February 1st, 2017 at Willamette National Cemetery.
